My 24th year of life has blessed me so much. I am completing my first full feature documentary, "The Backyard Philly Project" which premieres this May, and God gave me wonderful twin boys. On top of all of this, I am honored to be a part of Drexel Magazine's Class of 2013 '40 under Forty' for my accomplishments with Ferasha Films. Thank you all for walking with me on this journey.
I am delighted to announce the official launch of our new trailer for Ferasha Films' documentary "The Backyard Philly Project." After working on this project for two years, I am so excited to finally share it with the public. The premiere takes place this May 10 & 11th at Drexel University, and you can buy your tickets at www.ferashafilms.com on March 18. I hope to see many of you there! Also if you wouldn't mind sharing this video to everyone you know, that would be amazing. Please be our marketers and voice for this film!
This past Saturday (June 2nd) my other job (at First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem) hosted a large outdoor festival, Alive '12 with Jars of Clay. My Ferasha Films team also sponsored part of the event by hosting a video contest, running the social media for the day, and filming an interview with the band. You can watch the video at the bottom of this entry. The event kicked off with a Walk.Run.Ride. and we raised over $30,000 for blood:water mission! Amazing what a community can do when united together on a church lawn. But for now, here are some of my favorite stills that I took. Enjoy!
My Ferasha Films team has been working really hard lately. We're still in production with The Backyard Philly Project, and we're hosting and sponsoring Alive 2012 this June 2nd with Jars of Clay.
But, I wanted to let you know why we are super excited. We will be hosting Alive Festival 2012’s Passion into Action Video Contest! Since our passion is making films, we wanted to hear what your passion’s are. Alive ‘12 is an outdoor festival taking place this June 2nd in Bethlehem, PA. The goal of the event is to raise $30,000 for Blood:Water Mission, a grassroots organization fighting against AIDS and for clean water in Sub-Saharan Africa. The event kicks off with a Walk.Run.Ride., and ends with a free concert from grammy-award winning band Jars of Clay (also founders of Blood:Water Mission). So join in on the fun! Submit your video entry by May 15, 2012. For more information click here.
So I would encourage you to join the video competition! It's based off of criteria, you don't have to be a professional to make a good video. Just do it!
At times some call Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love, Kill-adelphia. Watch four teens who live in the projects express loss and hope by forging the future with the next generation.
"Penn Town" is a short documentary based on Ferasha Film's (my documentary organization) upcoming documentary "The Backyard Philly Project." I hope you guys enjoy this! The full documentary will be coming out soon!
